KC & The Sunshine Band: Friday, August 15th 2008 8:00 PM At Cape Cod Melody Tent

Always a Melody Tent favorite, KC & The Sunshine Band return to our stage again this summer! They remain as widely popular today as they were when they first danced onto the music scene 30 years ago. So grab your gold chains and your “Boogie Shoes” and get ready to “Shake Your Booty.” One of the most progressive bands of the 70s, KC & The Sunshine Band is credited with changing the sound of modern pop music. Harry Wayne Casey – KC, for short – developed a unique fusion of R&B and funk, with a hint of a Latin percussion groove, giving us an impressive string of hits. KC also brought a bit of male bravado to the predominantly diva-led disco scene, and established a signature sound incorporating a Caribbean feel to their music, with swelling--and staccato--horn parts and multi layered vocals. Over the years the band’s grooves and bass lines have been sampled in everything from R&B by R. Kelly to Rap by Snoop Dogg. Music acts like White Zombie, Baha Men, Beyonce Knowles and American Idols Kelly and Justin have covered KC’s music. With sales of over 100 million records, three Grammy Awards, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and his music featured in over 75 movies, KC and his crew’s spirited, ultra catchy pop-disco music have inspired folks around the world to “Get Down Tonight” for over 30 years. So spend the evening with KC and the band and you’ll leave saying “That’s The Way I Like It.”
